Greif's largest Paper Mill in Riverville, VA is seeking a seasoned Pulp Mill & Powerhouse Manager to oversee and manage the daily operations and administrative activities of a Semi-Chemical Pulp Mill, Woodyard, and Powerhouse, including a Combination Fuel Boiler, three package boilers and a recovery boiler including safety, production, maintenance, quality control and purchasing in support of the company policies and business objectives. Key Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations to ensure maximum efficiency, quality, and reliability; monitoring performance trends and taking corrective actions; ensuring coordination between pulp, recovery, and power generation processes; monitoring machinery maintenance; leading safety and compliance inspections; managing a team of supervisors and operations members; planning outages and inspections; developing process improvement initiatives; handling administrative duties such as purchasing, scheduling, inventory control, quality assurance, and safety; managing vendor relations and expenditures; communicating goals and policies; coaching and developing staff; purchasing raw materials; conducting training sessions; assisting in budget preparation; and substituting for General/Operations Manager as needed. Education and Experience required include a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Pulp & Paper Science, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered), and 7+ years of direct experience in production control and management in Pulp Mill and Powerhouse operations. Strong knowledge of kraft or semi-chemical pulping, chemical recovery, and steam/energy systems is required. Knowledge and skills include substantial supervision and management experience, organizational skills, understanding of OSHA and federal regulations, mechanical aptitude, reliability-based maintenance, analytical and goal-setting abilities, and familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
